In March of 2006, the Department of Ocean, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences deployed a real time monitoring station at the Hoffler Creek Wildlife Preserve.  This set of instruments provides round the clock monitoring of meterological and water quality conditions at the preserve.  These data are used by the department's OCN 441 class for a multi year study of the creek, the data are also utilized by the Hoffler Creek Wildlife Foundation in their efforts.   Specific instruments are added and removed periodically so please check the following link to see what is available.

News:  As of May 2007, a YSI 6600 Water Quality sonde has been installed at Hoffler Creek.  We are currently in the process of telemetering the data.  For the time being, the instrument will be downloaded periodically and links to the raw data and plots will be available on this page.

NOTE:
All sensors are polled once every 6 minutes, and data are transmitted, back to ODU, once every hour.  Currently all measurements are metric, however efforts are underway to have the option of choosing English Units or Metric Units.
