The Old Dominion University Human Powered Vehicle Team competes in the annual ASME Human Powered Vehicle Challenge. The annual event helps pave the way for alternative transportation and bolsters young engineers' interest in eco-friendly machine design. Students use engineering principles to design and construct a vehicle powered solely by the rider. The vehicle is then put through a rigorous design review and is raced against up to 40 teams from other colleges around the world.
