Here we are packing up the student projects trailer a day
before the competition. We hooked it up to the Oceanography suburban, piled
in, and began the fifteen hour drive from Norfolk to Tuscaloosa. The trip
was a great team bonding experience. |
| This is behind the engineering building at the University
of Alabama. The presentation and the safety check were held here. Kendrick
is in deep thought while Andrew and Bryan prepare the fairing for presentation. |
 |
 |
After we prepared the bike, we had a few minutes so Kendrick
decided to be the first person to try out the vehicle fully faired (since
we just finished the fairing the day before). He rode it without any problems
and even stopped without anybody supporting the bike. Check out the video
page for a clip. |
| We happened to sign up first at registration so we got the
lucky first spot in the presentation queue. This is Scott in the middle
of the presentation explaining the nose cone design. |
 |
 |
After we presented the judges reviewed the actual vehicle
and asked us a few more detailed questions. |
| The rest of the vehicles were set up in the courtyard so we
joined them outside. Kendrick is napping while the rest of us are answering
questions and checking out the other vehicles. |
 |
 |
After a few minutes of rest we headed out to the safety inspection
area. Dr. Landman and the team are discussing the rules of the safety check
with the judge. |
| Kendrick passed the check with flying colors. He even went
around the turn radius check twice for good measure. Here he is coming down
the line of brake check lane. |
