Main Research Focus
Real-time applications with high data rates require dedicated chips implementing the systems in the VLSI form. This necessitates the need for developing high performance dedicated real-time embedded systems to suit the design requirements. In addition, the ever-increasing density of integrated circuits motivates the hybridization of architectures mixing a variety of computational modules in the direction of system-on-a-chip. Main research activities in the VLSI Systems Laboratory include design and development of new algorithms and high performance digital architectures for real-time applications in the areas of digital signal processing, digital image processing and artificial neural networks.
