BONDING WITH YOUR TEXTBOOK
Objectives: Student will
get to know their textbook while teacher completes textbook accountability
forms.
1. Take out a sheet of paper and
put it under your textbook.
2. Put your head on the textbook
for 30 seconds. Sit up.
3. Stand up. Put your text
on your seat. Sit.
While sitting on the text, how
thick is the text? Do you know the definition of Marketing, Utility?
List the 9 functions of marketing. What is the title of the textbook?
What does the cover look like? List the author'(s) name(s).
Who is the publisher? What does the back of the book look like?
And so on. Note: Cannot learn what is in this book through
osmosis!
4. Answer the following questions using
your text: (overhead)
Use your new textbook
to answer the following questions:
- How many chapters are in the book?
- How many units are in the book?
- Does the book have a glossary?
- How/where did you find the information
for questions 1-3?
- What chapter(s) look the most interesting
to you?
- Each unit is divided into ___________________.
- Each chapter is divided into ____________________.
- In general, what are the "Terms to
Know?"
- Where do you find the "Fact and Idea
Review?"
- Turn to page 3. Describe the
learning objectives for Section 1 of Chapter 1.
- How often should you bring your book
to class?
