Yum, yum, yum!Marketing, Create Your Own Food Icon Assignment Getting hungry?

Directions:

During the previous class session you watched a program entitled "Food Icons" which described many current food icons such as Toucan Sam, Trix the Rabbit, and Snap, Crackle, Pop. The program also described several old icons such as Aunt Jemima, the Pillsbury Dough Boy, and Colonel Sanders.

After watching this program you should have a fairly good idea as to what makes an icon lovable and adoring to consumers. (i.e. most icons are funny and have their own specific personality) Now it is your turn to create a food icon(s).

First, your product. You will be creating an ad icon for Jolly Rancher candies.

Second, your objectives. In this assignment you will do the following:

- Describe the product

- Describe the target market of that product

- Brainstorm possible ways to create an ad icon(s)

- Draw (to the best of your ability) your new icon(s) for Jolly Rancher candies

- Write a brief script for how to introduce the new icon(s) to the public using a television commercial

You will work in assigned groups to complete this assignment.

You will have one class period in order to complete this assignment.
