SWAT
THE SPOT!
This
is a decidedly low tech game that uses two flyswatters. It will work
well any time you have facts or vocabulary words to be memorized.
Just
spread out your vocabulary words on the chalkboard or the wall. Divide
the class into two teams (I personally divide the teams subtly so that
I know they are somewhat equally matched). Each team sends a member
up to the board with a flyswatter. I give a definition or a question
orally. The first team to “swat the spot” (cover the correct
word with a flyswatter) gets a point for his/her team.
The
game is fast moving and sometimes little raucous, but boy does it motivate
students!
