MARKETING OCCUPATIONS

OBJECTIVE:

Define the twelve marketing occupational areas.

Discuss Marketing positions and their impact on the economy.

Assign students the task of finding four Marketing positions from a daily paper. The student will cut the ad from the paper and attach to a sheet of notebook paper.

List the twelve Marketing occupational areas and discuss each, naming at least two positions in that area.

1. Advertising and visual merchandising
2. Apparel and accessories marketing
3. Finance and credit reports
4. Food marketing
5. General merchandise retailing
6. Transportation and travel marketing
7. Restaurant marketing
8. Entrepreneurship
9. Vehicle and petroleum marketing
10. Hospitality and recreation marketing
11. General marketing
12. Sales

After defining the twelve marketing occupational areas and discussing the related positions, have the students reevaluate their job listing and place them into one of the twelve occupational areas.
