DRESS FOR SUCCESS

Competency 8120.008 Identify Professional Dress For Marketing Occupations

Scenario: You have just completed college and are about to begin your career as a public relations assistant in a large PR firm. The office is extremely conservative and requires you to dress according to the guidelines you were given in your marketing class. You will need a minimum of five professional dress outfits, one for each day of the week. However, you are on a limited budget. You have only $1,000 to spend. (You can adjust the budget to whatever you think is appropriate.)

Assignment: You are to complete the task given to you in the scenario listed above. The outfits should be compiled in either a scrapbook or a poster. Creativity is encouraged! A budget must be included. The grading scale is listed below.

Grading Scale:

Budget 10 points
Outfit 1 15 points
Outfit 2 15 points
Outfit 3 15 points
Outfit 4 15 points
Outfit 5 15 points
Creativity 15 points

***These are the guidelines I use for professional dress

Men: Dark suits, White shirts, conservative ties, socks, shoes that will hold a shine and a belt that matches the shoes. They will also need a white t-shirt to wear under the dress shirt.

Females: Business suits (I explain the difference between a business suit and a dress suit), conservative business dresses, hosiery, closed toe and closed heel conservative pumps, and a slip or other appropriate undergarments.
