PROJECT: HIRE!

Purpose: To acclimate advanced marketing students into the hiring process of management.

Objectives:
- To create a job advertisement
- To create a job application
- To create interview questions
- To administer one interview to a first year marketing student

Directions:

Creating a Job Advertisement Due: Friday Sept. 29/Monday Oct. 2

1. Choose a medium in which to advertise the new job and explain why that medium was chosen.
2. Prepare a clean and good looking advertisement for a new job. Include the following; job description, starting salary or wage per hour, contact information, location, etc.

Creating a Job Application Due: Thursday Oct. 5/Friday Oct. 6

1. Design a job application for your place of business. Include the following; personal history, past job history, skills section, education, reference section, etc.

Writing Job Interview Questions Due: Monday Oct. 9/Tuesday Oct. 10

1. Write out 10 good job interview questions to ask potential applicants. Be sure to site why that question is being asked and possible “good” answers.

Administering the job interview DUE: Thursday Oct. 12/Friday Oct. 13

1. Contact the potential employee and set up an interview time and place.
2. Be sure to dress professionally for the interview. (Also note if your potential employee is dressed professionally.)
3. Ask 5-10 of the prepared interview questions making notes on the answers.
4. Shake hands at the end of the interview and thank the potential employee for coming.
5. Provide feedback to the interviewee on their job interview. Give them constructive criticism to help them get a job for next time.

What you will turn in

1. Your sample job advertisement.
2. Your job application related to the advertisement.
3. 10 interview questions with explanation of why the question was chosen and possible answers.
4. Notes on your interview with your potential employee.
5. Feedback for your potential employee.

All components must be typed, look professional, and clean.
