Making Searches Fun! - When
teaching search tools, have the destination be someplace fun.
Then once they find it, allow them to take a moment or two to play at
the site, examining its features. For example, near Christmas
time, let them search for a "naughty or nice" list, or Santa radar.
They'll probably wind up at claus.com.
Let them check to see where they fall on the "Naughty or Nice?" list,
and you can later refer back to that site as a hedonistic site or as
an example of things sites do to keep you there and get you to return.
They'll enjoy it, and they're learning. There are always seasonal
and holiday sites, and the Internet it FILLED with various sites you
can enjoy. I keep a bookmark full of nothing but fun and silly
sites. Maybe we should start a list like that too?
