TRADEMARKS
Preparation:
Obtain Internet access for the students. Divide the class into
groups of two or three students each.
Process: Ask the groups to direct their web browsers
to www.uspto.gov
and click on the link for trademark search. This is the United States
Patent and Trademark Office’s Trademark Electronic Search System
(TESS). Have the students perform basic searches for sport (or other)
trademarks or browse the indexes. After they are familiar with the system,
have them perform a check on a sport (or other) trademark they create
as a group. Ask the groups to present their ideas and findings to the
class.
