SPONSORSHIP GROUP PROJECT

This group project is a major assignment, which will cover two weeks of class.  The due date for the written project will be: _________________ and the Oral presentations will start on __________________________.

Suggested Completion Order:

1) Determine who will be in your group of 2-3 people.

2) Determine the type of event you will be conducting.
* What type of event (wrestling, wind surfing tournament, volleyball tournament, three-on-three basketball tournament, concert, charity/benefit, etc.)
* Location of event (city and venue)
* Who will be participating (individuals, colleges, etc.)?
* Name of the Event
* No other group in your class period may use the same event idea!

3) Determine ALL of the sponsorship opportunities available for your event.  * How much will they have to pay and/or what will they have to contribute?
* What will they get in return for their sponsorship?
* To think of ideas for sponsorship opportunities: use your own experiences, current events, your notes, the articles we read, and CREATIVITY!
* Example: Tickets (front & back), banners, stadium billboards, start/finish lines, jersey patches, sails, a map, etc.
 

4) Determine WHO you will get as sponsors.
* You will need to match the event image with the product/ company image
* You will have to provide a written explanation of who your sponsors are and why?

5) You must write a formal Sponsorship Proposal.  Refer to your handout for what areas must be covered.

6) Actually create and design examples, such as: diagrams, a program, etc. (How many--enough to fully describe your event and it sponsorships).

* Be aware that neatness, completeness, and creativity are critical.  * You should use: poster board, construction paper, 3-D effects, actual old jerseys, etc.  * Artwork can be hand drawn, from magazines, etc.

7) Write a promotional plan for how and where you would market your event. If the newspaper, which newspapers and why?

* Make examples of advertisements, press releases, etc.
* You must have one creative promotional idea such as: sweepstakes, in-store display, guest appearance, etc.

* Present your event, the sponsorship opportunity, the promotional plan, etc, to the entire class.

* Explain the event and its details
* Display all the visual aids
* Explain the sponsorship opportunities and who you choose and why?
* Describe you marketing plan

HOW WILL YOU BE GRADED?
Project is worth three (3) test grades. (2 test grades for group work
time/actual visual aids, written explanation etc. and 1 test grade for
the oral presentation)

Areas to remember: Group use of time
Cooperation among group members
Contribution to the group's effort by you
Creativity, completeness of idea, and neatness
