Back, Farewell, New Advisor Academy - August 1, 2007
Welcome
back to another year of marketing education in Virginia, the finest
state program in the world! I hope you're excited about another year,
and it's going to be a great one.
After 7+ years as your DECA Specialist, it's time for
me to say farewell. I know you've always hated those lengthy e-mails
I send (hopefully my replacement will make them shorter), so I won't
bore you with details. But I have accepted a faculty position at ODU
effective 8/15, and am beginning to work on my Ph.D. in the fall (feel
free to contact me for information on the new CTE Ph.D. program here
at ODU). I do want you to know, however, that these have been seven
of the most professionally fulfilling years for me, and thank you. I
have made hundreds of wonderful friends around the state, and I'll miss
dealing with you on a daily basis. I do hope to stay involved with Virginia
DECA..
While the ad has not officially been posted yet, anyone
interested in becoming the new Virginia DECA Specialist should make
me aware of your interest. I will provide you with details as soon as
they are official.
September will play
host to our inaugural "New Advisor
Academy." If you have been teaching less than 3 years (or possibly
if you are entering into your 4th year, space permitting), please read
the attached message and registration form.
To all advisors, if you know of someone that might be
eligible to attend this academy, please ask them if they have seen the
information attached. If not, please forward it to them, or point them
to the home page of the Web site where I will have it posted by day's
end. It's going to be a wonderful event!
In compliance with Virginia DECA's 2007-2008 state theme,
you've really done a great job in "Setting the Stage." You're
entering into this year as the strongest state association in the history
of the organization with more than 13,000 members. You have a state
officer team that is really on top of things. AND YOU HAVE THE FINEST
GROUP OF MARKETING TEACHERS/DECA ADVISORS EVER ASSEMBLED. I truly believe
that, and have told you the same every year since I've been here. Because
of YOU, the stage is set for yet another great year in Virginia DECA.
Make it happen.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for all that you have
given to me over these past years.
