DECA
TRIP TO ITALY
We're
going to try it one more time! If the interest is there, Virginia DECA
will host a trip to Italy next summer (July 2007). You'll have the opportunity
to see this European wonder and learn how they do things in the world
of marketing and fashion. You'll see everything from the Gucci factory
to the little "mom and pop" suit tailor and leather goods
maker (they remind me of Geppetto), and everything in between. This
will be an ADVISOR ONLY trip.
Last year we had 17 of you
interested, but we need 20 before the trip will "make." Since
that time, many of you have told me that you would now like to go. You
may optionally take the trip as a course for college credit/recertification
through ODU.
Having already taken the
trip, I can tell you without reservation that the trip will exceed
your expectations in every way. The cost will include your transportation,
meals (breakfast and dinner), tours and entertainment--everything, including
the "vino" on the dinner table each night. The only thing
you'll need to pay for is lunch (if you opt for it--the breakfasts are
huge), souvenirs, shopping, of course, and a tip for the bus driver
(about $20).
You'll see Milan, Como, Bellagio
(yes, ladies, including George Clooney's house), Venice, Florence, Pisa,
and Rome, and there are many tours (see brochure below), as well as
a plenty of free time. The adult only trip, if you are interested, may
also include some wine tasting, if you opt for it.
With the increased Euro conversion
rate and airline costs, the cost of the trip has increased to $3399
for the 10-day trip, and $3799 for the 11-day trip. If you are interested,
you'll need to make a deposit in the somewhat near future so that I
can commit us to the trip. (See the attached application for payment
details.) Trip insurance will also be offered. If airline/Euro conversion
rates go up, your price is fixed and will NOT increase.
Feel free to call me with
any questions you may have, but don't wait too long. Either the trip
will make or it won't, but we'll need to know before the school year
is out. The sooner we reach the 20 person minimum, the sooner I can
commit to you. If you are interested, please send me a verbal commitment
via e-mail. I will not hold you to this, but I do need a head count.
Then complete the application and fax/e-mail it to me, followed by your
deposit. The application will outline a payment schedule. If you want
to attend, but need to make other payment arrangements, let me know
and I'll do my best to work with you. Arrivederci!
