| One of the issues in teaching E-Commerce
is the amount of TIME you can consume doing your research! Sometimes
you will simply "fall into" data that you want to use, and you will instantly
know that the information or site will make a great lesson. Other
times when you are trying to find that great article on search directories,
or when you want to know what "dot.com" company had the most effective
television advertising campaign, or when you are attempting to create a
perfect lesson for online job hunting, you can spend hours looking
for a single answer. I know--you do this already. But because
the sources are slightly less abundant for e-commerce, I'm hoping to help
you out just a bit.
Below are some things that just might help
you along the way as you teach this course the first few times. I
hope that as you develop your own resources, you will remember what you've
been through and send them back here to be posted for others to use!
Feel free to give me your feedback. Let me know what else you would
like to see here. I'll be happy to try and provide it for you.
Or if you simply have a link or a tool to contribute, we'd love to have
it. If you find it useful, then don't forget to

HOTLINKS
TO ASSIST IN WEBSITE CONSTRUCTION
You've already been there, but I hope
it's a page that you can use over and over again. I use it regularly,
as do several of my former students.
MARKETING
EDUCATION LINKS
Starting with a section entitled "Internet
Specific Links," You should be able to get a great head start on doing
some of your homework in preparation for 8125. Some of the others
will be common knowledge, while others may not. Yet all of them are
good sources when you teach Marketing Education. If you have others
that you use, please let me know about them!
THEMATIC
LINKS
Some of your best lessons will come with
a theme in mind. One of my favorite teachers in Virginia does a really
cool lesson surrounding short-term promotional websites for movies.
Hope she submits THAT one as her final. This page includes thematic
links on:
-
Internet Hoaxes and Viruses
-
Income Taxes
-
Books
-
Automobiles
-
Food and Drink
-
Movies and Television
-
News
-
Stocks and Financial
Feel free to submit you own! I would
love to add them to this list.
MORE THEMATIC LINKS
Originally I had these on the same page
as the above, but the page got WAY too big. Especially around the
holidays, try these.
JOBS
Although it is part of the Virginia DECA
website, a lot of time went into compiling these links! Job resources
are abundant on the Web, but most of them serve college graduates.
This site was constructed with the high school graduate in mind.
It includes everything from part-time jobs to overseas jobs (yes, they
DO exist for HS students!) to temperment tests and so on. Try it!
E-COMMERCE
LESSON PLANS AND ACTIVITIES
I hope that this page will be your most
helpful, and as an OTS 596 student, YOU will help contribute to it!
Just imagine if every Marketing Education teacher contributed their best
lesson plan. You would have 412 AWESOME lessons! I hope you
will all take me up on the challenge. Submit a few** besides
the ones that you are submitting for this class.
**You will be credited for
submitting the lesson. If you do NOT wish to be credit, please state
that on your submission, and I will happily honor your request. |
