VIRGINIA DECA SCHOLARSHIP WINNER INSTRUCTIONS

Congratulations on being one of a very select few to earn a $1000 scholarship through Virginia DECA! You have served our association well, and are being rewarded for your efforts. Please remember the following rules and procedures in obtaining your scholarship funding:

  • Notify Ms. Sharon Acuff of your intent to accept the scholarship prior to the end of the school year. Failure to do so may result in forfeiture of the scholarship. You may call direct at 804.225.2846, e-mail to sharon.acuff@doe.virginia.gov, or mail to the address below.
    • Ms. Sharon Acuff
      Virginia Department of Education

      PO Box 2120
      Richmond VA 23218-2120

  • Furnish proof of postsecondary registration to the Virginia DECA Foundation office. (This means you have registered for specific classes) Your award will not be presented until such verification has been received. Your registration must also include your student ID number.
  • Include a specific address where your scholarships funds are to be sent.
  • Upon completion of your first semester, furnish a transcript of your grades, as well as verification of second semester registration for classes, to the Virginia DECA Foundation office. You will receive one-half of your award your first semester, and one-half second semester. If, for any reason, you should discontinue your studies, you must notify the Virginia DECA Foundation in advance. Awards may be deferred up to one year with proper notification and approval.
  • Maintain a marketing, management, or marketing education major. Exceptions will be examined on an individual basis.
  • Maintain a full-time student status. Part-time students may receive pro-rated awards without advanced approval.
  • Do not willingly violate college or postsecondary school regulations.
  • Maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA from your postsecondary institution.

Be advised that providing the proper documentation is your responsibility. No payments will be made without it. If you would like verification of receipt of documentation, please include your e-mail address with your correspondence.

Again, congratulations, and Virginia DECA and the Virginia DECA Foundation is proud to reward you with assistance in your postsecondary endeavor.
