The ODU CubeSat project was part of the
Virginia CubeSat Constellation
mission funded by NASA and the Virginia Space Grant Consortium for a period of 3 years (2016-2019).
This was an interdisciplinary project which provided undergraduate engineering students at ODU with
hands-on experience on a complex space systems engineering project. ODU students along with students
at the University of Virginia and Virginia Tech designed, developed, integrated, and flew a constellation of
three 1U CubeSats in low Earth orbit to measure their orbital decay and develop a model of atmospheric
drag in low Earth orbit.
The CubeSat project was featured in the multiple news articles on the university website
ODU News (Jul. 10, 2019): ODU CubeSat Is Deployed Into Orbit from the International Space Station.
