SUPPLIES

• MATH WILL BE DONE IN PENCIL. I suggest you invest in a reliable mechanical pencil. I will not accept any graded assignments that are done in pen.

• Non-Graphing Calculators usage will be allowed only on a limited basis.
• Textbooks and note taking material will be brought to each class period.

HONOR CODE: By enrolling in this course you agree to adhere to the honor code of ODU: “ I pledge to support the Honor System of Old Dominion University. I will refrain from any form of academic dishonesty or deception, such as cheating or plagiarism. I am aware that as a member of the academic community, it is my responsibility to turn in all suspected violators of the Honor Code. I will report to a hearing if summoned.” The Honor Pledge Signature Line will be required on all written work turned in for a grade. However, students are free to collaborate on any homework exercises. Access to prior assessment tools (old tests, quizzes, etc.) is a violation of the Honor Code. Any student caught committing an Honor Code violation will receive an F for the course and referral to the Honor Council.

CLASS POLICIES:

• ATTENDANCE:
• Attendance will be taken at each class period. Leaving class after signing the attendance sheet will be considered as an absence.
• Students who miss class are responsible for getting all notes and assignments from classmates.
• Students are expected to be present for all tests, quizzes and exam. Make up tests will not be given.

• Students are allowed 4 absences for the semester. Each absence in excess of 4 will result in one letter grade deduction from the semester average.
• MAKE-UP POLICY:
• Tests cannot be made-up. ONLY when a test is missed due to illness or other exceptional circumstance, AND the student contacts Dr. Kaneko within 24 hours of the test date, will the missed test grade be REPLACED with the grade from the final examination. Absence from the final exam will result in automatic failure of the entire course.

• WRITTEN ASSIGNMENTS
• Appropriate steps must support all solutions to problems on tests, homework, and exams.
• Final answers MUST be circled or blocked for clarity.
• Each student is responsible for all assignments on material covered in class.
• Homework completion will be checked by completion of quizzes taken directly from homework problems. Such quizzes will be weighted at 30% of the semester average.
• CLASS ADMINISTRATION

o Class ‘housekeeping” issues will be handled at the beginning of the period.

o Homework problems will be addressed in class during the recitation period.

o Questions regarding grades and personal issues will only be addressed during office hours.

o All cellular phones and pagers will be cut off during class periods.

o All communications reference appointments and other administrative issues must be written via Email.

· OFFICE HOURS:

o Office hours should be used to address questions on homework solutions that have ALREADY BEEN ATTEMPTED by students.

o 12:30pm –1:30pm M, W OR BY SPECIAL APPOINTMENT
