This
award-winning organization is open to any student (regardless of
major) who is interested in the discipline of Human Factors and Ergonomics.
By becoming a memebr, students learn about this quickly growing field and
become involved in human factors research and activities. The chapter meets
once a month in the Mills Godwin Building at Old Dominion Univerisity.
Prospective members must complete an online
application. There is an annual fee of $10 for all members. This money
is used to support activities hosted by the ODU HFES Student Chapter.
The Human Factors and Ergnomomics Society is the
national professional organization for human factors specialists.The
society is concerned with the study of human characteristics and
capabilities and with the application of the knowledge to the design of the
products, systems, and environments that people use. An HFES student member
receives the monthly bulletin, the quarterly journal, Human Factors, and
the monthly magizine, Ergonomics in Design. Students who join usually have
a strong interest in a human factors career.
