A First Course in Differential Equations with Modeling Application by D. G. Zill
Prerequisites:
A grade of C or better in MATH 212 (Calculus II).

Synopsis:

The course will cover the following Chapters of the text:

  • Chapter 1. Introduction to Differential Equaitons: Sec. 1.1, 1.2
  • Chapter 2. First-Order Differential Equaitons: Sec. 2.1--2.5
  • Chapter 3. Modeling with First-Order Differential Equaitons: Sec. 3.1--3.3
  • Chapter 4. Higher-Order Differential Equaitons: Sec. 4.1--4.7, 4.9
  • Chapter 5. Modeling with High-Order Differential Equaitons: Sec. 5.1, 5.2
  • Chapter 6. Series Solutions of Linear Equations: Sec. 6.1, 6.2
  • Chapter 7. The Laplace Transform: Sec. 7.1--7.3

  • Grading scales:
    A: 92-100%, A-: 90-91.9%
    B+: 88-89.9%, B: 82-87.9%, B-: 80-81.9%
    C+: 78-79.9%, C: 72-77.9%, C-: 70-71.9%
    D+: 68-69.9%, D: 62-67.9%, D-: 60-61.9%
    F: 0-59.9%


    Final Grade:
    The grading will be based on the quizs (20%), tests (30%) and the final exam (50%). The final exam will be held 3:45-6:45pm, Thursday, May 8th, 2014, in the classroom 1037, Constance Hall.


    Homework: Homeworks will not be collected. You should do as many as possible.
