Course description
This is a 3 credit graduate course (Master/PhD level) that teaches
fundamental concepts in wireless communication systems and networks.
Topics covered include: radio waveform propagation modeling
(free-space, reflections and multipath, fading, diffraction and Doppler effects);
physical and statistical models for wireless channels;
modulation schemes for wireless communications and bandwidth considerations;
diversity techniques; MIMO systems and space-time coding;
multiuser systems and multiple access techniques (TDMA, FDMA. CDMA);
spread spectrum and multiuser detection;
introduction to wireless networking and wireless standards;
current and emerging wireless technologies.
Prerequisites
- Communication systems (ECE 451/551).
