Syllabus       Lectures will follow the text, though not necessarily in the order presented in the book.  We will cover approximately chapters 7 through 12.

Exams        Two in-class exams and a 3-hour comprehensive final exam will be given.

Exam               Date                 Time                Place

                        Exam I           Oct 2               3:00 – 4:15      OCNPS 205

                        Exam II          Nov 6              3:00 – 4:15      OCNPS 205

Final Exam    Dec 15            3:45 – 6:45      OCNPS 205

No make-up examinations will be given.  If you have to miss a test, you must contact me as soon as possible (i.e., before the test, if possible, or within 48 hours after the exam). A grade zero will be assigned unless you have a very good excuse for missing the test. If you do have an acceptable excuse (including a doctor’s note in case of illness), your grade for the missed test will be the grade you receive on the final examination.

Homework  You will receive approximately one homework assignment per week. Typically, homework will be due one week after it is assigned. Please check the website for exact information on homework due dates.

Homework solution will be provided in class after the homework due date has passed.

University Honor Code

You are expected to conform to the University Honor Code in all aspects of your conduct in this course. For example, you are encouraged to work with others on the homework; however, what you submit must represent your own understanding of the problem.

Final Course Grade

A letter grade is determined only at the end of the term. Course grades will be based on the exam scores, the final exam score, and assigned homework.

The relative weighing is the following:

Exams (25% each):     50%

Final Exam:                 40%

Homework:                 10%

Attendance Attendance in Lecture is optional. However, you are responsible for all information discussed in Lecture, including any announcements.
