"Each year, Norfolk's Town Point Park is transformed in to an enchanted playground with educational, hands-on workshops and activities, national and regional children's entertainment, and huggable costumed characters." It is the largest one day children's festival in Virginia.
The Old Dominion University Physics Department has a booth at the fair where we have about 20 interactive demonstrations of physical phenomena, covering topics such as vacuum and air pressure, electricity generation, rotational motion, and optics. About 15 to 20 faculty and students staff the booth, helping the thousands of children and their parents explore and understand these phenomena.
The festival is typically an early Saturday in October from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. For more information about the festival, contact Norfolk Festevents at 757 441 2345.
