101 Fall 2004 Clicker Comments
Starting in Fall 2003, ODU Teaching Evaluations switched to web-based evaluations
done out of class. The participation rate dropped from 50-70% to about
35%. I have no idea whether this skews the results. In order
to help find out, I had the students switch clickers (electronic remote response
gizmos) with each other, and fill out the evaluation in class electronically.
Here are the results (on the standard scale of 1-6 where 6 is best).
The question numbers refer to the standard evaluation questions:
Q1: 4.7
Q2: 4.8
Q5: 4.7
Q6: 4.4
I also added a few other questions:
How helpful is the lab for learning the course material? 3.0
How helpful is the homework for learning the course material? 4.0
How helpful are the inclasss microquizzes for learning the course material?
5.1
How helpful are the lecture demonstrations for learning the course material?
5.0
Was the electronic responder worth $30? 2.8
Were the tests well-matched to the course material? 4.2
