The instructor included many "ponderables" during the lecture that changed the way you had to think about a seemingly standard problem or concept. These were really helpful.

The group setting allowed for me to interact with other students and we helped each other understand the subject matter. Also there was aid from very helpful teacher assistants which was extremely helpful, and they were available for tutoring in the physics lab. The homework given was reflective of what was seen on the test and this helpd also prepare for exams. The visual aids were also a plus with better understanding the subjecct matter.

The lectures were not very informative. The idea of doing work together in the group instead of the proffesor doing it for us is good. The problem was that most people didn;t understand how to do some of the stuff which completely ruined the point of having class like that.

The teaching and learning style. They experimented with anew style called "scale-up" and it is extremely effective. It works for me.

Professor Weinstein was always available to answer students questions, and he is very enthusiatic about physics and teaching. He is organized and always makes time to answer questions about the course material. I enjoyed his reviews for the test because it helped me to have more clarity on what I needed to know to focus on for the test.

Slow down on the homework assignments. Often times, we were assigned homewrok in chapters that were 2 chapters ahead of where we had dixscussed in class, providing for a little confusion, but other than that, the class was great.

Take tests right after we finished the material. Whenever we would take a test the material that we were covering in class at the time was normally 3 to 4 chapters ahead. For example, we took a test on chapters 4, 5, 6, and 7 but in class we were on chapter 11. It would be more helpful if we would just take the test right after finishing the material, it was really overwhelming and frustrating trying to study material for the test and learn new material at the same time. Also, when we did examples in class with our groups, there was never very much time to go over the solutions to those examples before the class period ended so, normally, we didn't get straight answers to those examples and I wasn't sure if I was doing those problems correctly. Also, the class notes and examples we did in class should be posted more promptly.

The group idea is a good and also a bad thing. Students must be able to switch groups.

Only change groups if people request to- my first two groups were great and very helpful, but the last group I was in didn't help my learning at all. Both of my group members barely came to class and never talked during the group work. the instructor could actually go over the concepts by doing a practice problem with the class first before sending us off to do it on our own.

Scale up is a great learning environment but the class lab/lecture slots should be standardized. Attempting to create a schedule around the one differently timed lab slot you must attend is just poor planning on the part of whomever schedules classes.

He assumed we understood a lot of material that he did not explain very well. He would briefly cover material without much explanation, and he would also expect us to learn a lot from our book (our book was not very informmative). When your major is not based on physics, all the technical jargin is a little difficult to understand without having to google every other word, and it would be helpful is he would break it down for us rather than just expecting us to get it. He also gave us homework on chapters that we had not learned yet, making it very hard to do.

Reading all of the text book. Without reading, I was completely lost.

I always tried to get the homework done early and often, because to get caught behind in that is a trap that was almost inescapable. This allowed me to focus more in class.

Reading the material and going to study sessions. Which, I think I learned more in the review sessions with Rob than from class and the professor.

If I took the time to go over the base principles of each section prior to going to class then I found I was able to obtain more knowledge. Also if I did additional problems to the home work often helped me to prepare for the exams. The physics resource center also became a great instrument on helping me understand the subject matter.
