Frequently
Asked Questions
I do not see the buttons to start the
video
If you do not see the buttons to start the
video then the problem is related to the RealPlayer
Plug-in. If you are sure the RealPlayer is installed
on your computer, click the Use External Video
Player link at the bottom of the video page
to launch the Real Player. If you still encounter
problems, you should download and install the
RealPlayer by clicking here.
What does high bandwidth mean?
High bandwidth means that you have a DSL, cable
modem or LAN (local area network) connection.
If you use a 56K modem to access the Internet,
you do not have a high bandwidth connection.
How do I start the video?
One you have clicked one of the video links
from the main page, the video should begin to
play automatically. If the video does not start
automatically and you see a video window and
controls embedded on the web page, use the controls
to play the video. If you do not see a video
window embedded on the web page, click the Use
External Video Player link at the bottom of
the video page to launch the RealPlayer.
I am getting the "file not available"
message
If you get this message while trying to access
a live or archived event, it means that the
video is not yet available. Be sure to check
the dates and times on the main page for video
availability.
The video is freezing up
Due to Internet congestion (aka "net congestion"),
your video may occasionally freeze up while
the audio still plays. If you close out any
unused applications on your computer, that will
help minimize the problem. When this does occur,
press the "pause" button and then
the "play" button on the RealPlayer
and that usually forces the video stream to
normalize. Another solution is to empty the
cache of your web browser.
I am not getting any audio
The first step is to press the "pause"
button on your RealPlayer followed by the "play"
button. If this did not resolve the problem,
check your audio setting on your computer (play
a CD) and make sure none of the settings has
the sound muted. Also check the RealPlayer's
audio setting and ensure that it is turned up
and not muted (check the sound by accessing
another RealPlayer file).
Why is there a delay on the video?
Due to Internet congestion (aka "net congestion"),
that is beyond our control, the video starts
to have a delay. You may end up seeing and hearing
things that occurred in a live broadcast up
to as much as five minutes after they really
occurred.
The stream stops unexpectedly
Sometimes the "net congestion" may
become severe enough to disconnect your RealPlayer.
If this occurs, press "play" on the
RealPlayer to reconnect.
When will the archive be available?
Under normal circumstances, the archive for
an event will be available within a couple hours
of the live broadcast. Be sure to check the
dates and times on the main web page for more
precise availability.
How long will the archive be available?
All archives are kept online for several weeks
following a live broadcast. Some events, however,
are kept online for longer periods of time.
Be sure to check the dates and times on the
main web page for more precise availability.
