Each year Virginia DECA, national DECA,
and other vested organizations attempt to give away thousands and thousands
of dollars in scholarships. Many of you would
like to apply but don't know how. Please look at the list of scholarships
that will be given out this year through Virginia DECA:
1) The Louise Bernard Scholarship,
given in honor of our first state supervisor of Marketing Education. $1000
2) The Louis Spillman Scholarship,
given in honor of the teacher who implemented the 1st Marketing class in
the commonwealth. $1000
3) The Lucy Crawford Scholarship
is
given in honor of someone who is recognized as a leader and who has been
a major figure in Marketing Education on both the state and national levels.
$1000
4) The James Horan Jr. Scholarship
is in honor of one of the true pioneers in Virginia DECA. $1000
5) The Elwood Roche Memorial Scholarship
is given in honor of a man who taught for over three decades in Virginia
DECA and served as a respected state advisor for Marketing. This
scholarship is presented by the Virginia Association of Marketing Education.

6-10) In addition, this year Virginia
DECA will offer five (5) additional $1000 scholarships to active
members of Virginia DECA. That's ten scholarships given by Virginia
DECA alone! One application will automatically make you eligible
for consideration for all of these scholarships. Remember, you
can't win if you don't apply!

format, requirements, etc. The Virginia DECA scholarship application
is due in the Virginia DECA office no later than January 30, 2003.
Other scholarships around Virginia:
Delta Epsilon Chi was gracious enough
last year to provide one fortunate student with a post secondary scholarship.
They plan to continue again this year and provide another scholarship to
one lucky Virginian. Information will be posted here as soon as it
is available, so check back here often.
The Virginia Association for Career
and Technical Education (VACTE) offered scholarship funding the last
several years. More information will be posted soon regarding the
offerings.
Other scholarships around the country:
National DECA provided over $250,000
in scholarship money last year. Virginia had thirteen (13) national
scholarship winners! For more information, download a copy of the
Harry
Applegate Scholarship Application located both here and in the national
DECA
Guide. One application makes you eligible to be considered for
each of the national DECA scholarships that you qualify for. Harry
Applegate applications are due in the Virginia DECA office no later than
February 18, 2003. For more information, ask your advisor or go
