What is a Physics Olympics?
The Physics Olympics is a series of six activities, each of 20 minutes
duration. No prior preparation or construction is required.
The
activities are designed to be fun, active, include some knowledge of
science, and require group participation.
Sampling of Past Activities: Paper Airplane Toss, Slow Bicycle Race,
Constant Velocity Race, Koosh Ball Catapult, Penny Barge, Laser Target
Shoot, Build-a-Magnet, Walk the Plank, Pennies from Heaven, Mirror
Maze.
Who can participate?
Teams of 4 or 5 Middle or High School students. Middle and High School
teams will be ranked separately. Multiple teams from a school may compete.
What can I win?
Fabulous prizes. Previous years' prizes included Busch Gardens, Water
Country and Virginia Air and Space Museum tickets.
How can my team enter?
To enter, send the School name, Faculty advisor name, School address and
phone, the number of teams entered, and $5 per team (check payable to 'TOPS',
$10 per team if mailed after March 9) to David Wright, Tidewater Community
College, 1700 College Crescent, Virginia Beach, VA 23456. Download

Time: Saturday March 19, 2005 9 am to 12 noon

Turn off Princess Anne road onto Concert Drive. Take your first right
and then your first left into the Visitors Parking Lot. Enter by the
