RESEARCH
TOPIC, 2007-2008
Research
Topic for 07-08: **The
2008 topic for each occupational category is the development of a
green (ecologically friendly) marketing campaign for a business. Participants
will choose a business and analyze its operations to identify environmental
considerations that should be integrated into all aspects of marketing
from new product development and communications to completing the
sale and customer service. Environmental issues should be balanced
with customer needs. Research will be both primary and secondary.
Participants will then make recommendations for a green marketing
campaign.
**Note
that this is the topic, but does not provide specifics, as it is still
being developed at the time of this posting. Be sure to check your
DECA Guide in August for the final version, including the
definition of green marketing.

Permformance
Indicators
In keeping
with DECA Inc., no performance indicators will be provided this year
prior to the SLC. This leaves all competitors on an even keel. Come
prepared for anything! To find generic performance indicators, visit
deca.org.
More information surrounding
the 2007 SLC will be coming soon, so check back often!
ADVISOR
VERIFICATION SHEETS-
With more than 2300 SLC participants this year,
managing data without making a single error has become more and more
challenging each year. While we do everything humanly possible to
avoid SLC registration errors, ultimately it comes down to you verifying
that you have registered your students properly. Because
competitors' status cannot be altered on site at the conference, it
is incumbent upon you to verify your registration data in advance.
DR.
AL SNYDER... WHO IS HE?
Each year
students and advisors are asked to complete post conference evaluations
for SLC. And each year, like clockwork, students identify the same
two activities as their favorites. The second favorite activity? You
guessed it, the Saturday night "Superdance." And the favorite
student activity year after year after year? Dr. Al Snyder, master
hypnotist! Each year Dr. Snyder performs on Friday night following
the Opening Session. He makes DECA members and advisor do some crazy
things! We've seen Brittany Spears live, advisors barking like a dog,
attack of the killer butterflies, temperatures of 150° and -50°
within seconds of each other, and much more. If you haven't seen it,
you need to earn your way to the conference and take part. And if
you're interested, somebody has to go up on stage and get hypnotized...
You'll love it!
Take a peek
at another Wand Enterprises hypnotist, then come back soon to see
some real clips of Dr. Al Snyder from past Virginia DECA SLCs. You
might just see somebody you know thinking that a feather weighs 400
lbs... It's hilarious!!!
